Eleven years before the Declaration of Independence was signed, Captain Benjamin Isaacs received a charter to make Masons in the city of Norwalk from the Provincial Grand Master in the Province of New York in America, to be chartered St. John's Lodge No. One at Norwalk in Connecticut. Our lodge was instituted on May 23, 1765 and to put it in perspective, our illustrious Brother George Washington was a young 33 years of age when our lodge was organized. When the Grand Lodge of Connecticut was formed 28 years later we were reconstituted St. John's Lodge No. 6 at Norwalk and have continued to make men into Masons through war and peace, feast and famine for almost 250 years.
